A Night Less Ordinary is winding down – not cancelled

You might have heard the news that the government has ‘curtailed’ A Night Less Ordinary and we wanted to let you know exactly what that means.

The good news is that most theatres will continue to offer free tickets to anyone under 26 until the scheme closes at the end of March 2011. Even if your local theatre has dropped out of the scheme, it’s still worth checking out their shows – most theatres have great deals for young people, and you can still get a night less ordinary for less than the price of a round of drinks..

The slightly sad news is that, because the scheme is winding down, the Arts Council won’t be promoting it any more...so our Facebook group and Twitter will disappear soon (but check to see if your local theatre has one you could join). Also, there’ll be no new celebrity videos and pictures, or competitions. This site will stay up until 31 March 2011 so you can keep checking out what’s available..

And if you’ve been well and truly bitten by that theatre bug, go tell your mates how great a night at the theatre can be – A Night Less Ordinary may be winding down, but your local theatre isn’t!.

The A Night Less Ordinary team at Arts Council England would like to thank you all for using the scheme, and for all your tweets, emails, reviews and messages. It’s been fun. See you in the stalls!.

About the Arts Council
Arts Council England works to get great art to everyone by championing, developing and investing in artistic experiences that enrich people’s lives.

As the national development agency for the arts, we support a range of artistic activities from theatre to music, literature to dance, photography to digital art, carnival to crafts.

Great art inspires us, brings us together and teaches us about ourselves and the world around us. In short, it makes life better.

Between 2008 and 2011 we’ll invest in excess of £1.6 billion of public money from the government and the National Lottery to create these experiences for as many people as possible across the country.
